Descripción de la Organización
Founded in 1994 by Poju and Anita Zabludowicz, the collection spans four decades of art and includes works across all disciplines by artists from around the globe, with a major focus on artists from Europe and North America. The Collection actively encourages the development of artists' practices beyond collecting by commissioning and supporting the production of new work as well as loaning works to other institutions.
Zabludowicz Collection, a private art collection with a public ethos.
It was founded on a commitment to producing a vibrant and sustainable ecology for art. It achieves this through a growing archive of contemporary art and is dedicated to the conservation and collection of new work by artists from the earliest stages of their careers.
Inaugurated in 2007, Zabludowicz Collection's London project space presents a varied programme of self-initiated group and solo exhibitions, commissions and residencies, drawing on works from the collection or new commissions. The programme focus is supporting early career artists and curators and is housed in a former Methodist chapel.
Access is free and open to all Thursday – Sunday during exhibitions.
In 2010 Zabludowicz Collection initiated an international residency programme for invited artists on the island of Sarvisalo in Loviisa, Finland. The residency programme offers an open-ended and discursive environment for the production of art. Artists and practitioners from many disciplines are invited to spend up to a month researching and working on the island, sometimes producing works that remain in situ, or using the time to develop future projects and collaborations. Specially commissioned sculptures and installations from the Collection are installed across three locations on the island. Access is limited and by appointment.
