DATOS GENERALES
Descripción de la Organización
Under its Charter, the Possehl Foundation promotes "the renovation of the beauty of the cityscape and its public spaces, charitable and non-profit institutions and youth organizations, the encouragement of art and science and the alleviation of hardship for those in need" in Lübeck. The Foundation therefore supports the development of the community in the Hanseatic City in a comprehensive manner. The multifaceted commitment of the people of Lübeck is reflected in the up to 500 applications approved each year. This comprehensive and long-term support is in no small measure due to our founder Emil Possehl: approximately one hundred years ago, he defined the Foundation's goals so broadly that they still give the Foundation a great deal of leeway today. The following pages will give you a brief insight into the wide range of support available.
The Possehl Foundation shapes the Lübeck community beyond mere funding commitments. As a member of the European Hansemuseum as well as the TheaterFigurenMuseum Lübeck and the Figurentheater Lübeck it is responsible for a wide range of cultural activities in the Hanseatic City. The new construction of Kunsthalle St. Annen in 2003 also created spaces for modern art in Lübeck, which the Foundation then left to the Hanseatic City of Lübeck. Since 2018, two new Possehl Art Prizes have also been focusing on contemporary artists.
Since the promotion of young talent was particularly dear to our founder's heart, every year the Foundation honors students of the University of Music and the Technical University of Lübeck for special achievements.
