Descripción de la Organización
Esso Gallery & Books is an art enterprise run by Jennifer Bacon and Filippo Fossati, based in New York City. In its 20+ years of activity, Esso has collaborated and supported many international artists in the making of more than one hundred exhibitions in private and public institutions. Since its beginnings in the Lower East Side in 1996, Esso has introduced the work of a number of important Italian artists such as Carol Rama, Gastone Novelli, Alighiero Boetti, Ketty La Rocca, Pino Pascali, Gianni Piacentino, Mario Schifano, Tano Festa, Pirro Cuniberti, Piero Manai, Vittoria Chierici and others to the American public, while expanding the careers of American artists both in the US and abroad. In 2009 Esso closed the physical space of the gallery to focus on collaborating with selected artists' projects and productions, and consulting with collectors and curators. Esso founded the archives of Richard Nonas, Vittoria Chierici, Maurizio Pellegrin and Jay Batlle. Esso works with the Archivio Gastone Novelli and Archivio Mario Schifano in Rome and represents the Archivio Fausta Squatriti. Esso is now open by appointment only.
