Xavier González-Solís Bou, was born in Barcelona in 1962.
He is a visual artist, graduated in Philosophy and Superior Technician in Sculpture. He has dedicated his youth to community action, pedagogy and the teaching of philosophy. In 1986, with two colleagues, he founded the La Plana Cooperative, a Rural Center for Reception and Culture in Santa Maria de Oló (now the La Plana Foundation). In 2005 he made the decision to dedicate himself exclusively to his work. It uses sculpture, graphic work, photography, video, performance and culminates in installations. It has
been 10 years since he has his workshop installed in Rovira Roja, Barcelona.
Today he is fully devoted to his work. In the last twenty-five years he has developed his creations focused on the concept and the used shoe object and on the relationships that it determines, as a paradigmatic symbol of contemporary human history.
Xavier G-Solís in 2015 held a retrospective exhibition entitled Why Shoes? at the Musée International de la Chaussure, Romans, France. In addition, he has exhibited in international museums and art centers around the world, such as: Generations 2018, an exhibition that has not been censored, University of Edinburgh, UK, 2015 (2018), À Vos Pieds, Musée des Confluences, Lyon, France (2016), Walking in someone else's shoes, Aluna Art Foundation, Miami, USA (2014), Floating Shoes Galeria Contrast, Barcelona and Museum Plain, Life-The Gallery, Amsterdam, Holland (2012), Propi de Sabates Ingràvid , Festival de Cultura Contemporània de l'Empordà, Figueres (2010), Boites a Chaussures / Shoeboxes, Instituto Cervantes de Lyon, France (2010), Zapacoches at the Centro de Engrabado Contemporáneo de Santa Cruz de Tenerife (2007) and in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria at ULPGC and Los Zapatos weigh in
at the CICCA Exhibition Hall, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (2005), among other exhibitions.
