Descripción del Artista
Vibeke Mascini (Gravenhage, The Hage, 1989) draws inspiration from the stories that make up our current measurement system, which we often use as an absolute standard, but has actually found its basis in subjectivity and flux. She finds it to be particularly interesting how value of information (and successively meaning) is defined by such cultural systems of assessment. Being intrigued at the point where materiality becomes secondary and physical presence sometimes even trivial in relation to storytelling. In the same way as stars can be bought or have been dedicated in a honourable gesture to the people that gaze at them through clear night skies.
Oscillating between publication and print, installation and lecture, Mascini has exhibited in various places such as: Nutshuis (NL), De Drie Heuvelen (NL), Hotel Maria Kapel (NL) and Studio Galeria FKSE (HU). She has written for amongst others: VPRO, literary magazine de Gids, Salvo collective and Mister Motley magazine and gave readings at Torpedo Theater (NL), The Tunnel NYC (US) Mediamatic (NL) and Corrosia (NL).
Mascini graduated from Gerrit Rietveld Academie (Image & Language) in Amsterdam in 2013. Her works are part of different collections such as: MoMA Library, New York | Academisch Medisch Centrum (AMC), Amsterdam | Columbia University Library, New York | Metropolitan Museum of Art Library, New York | Koninklijke Bibliotheek Den Haag | Getty Reasearch Centre, Los Angeles | New York Public Library | The Athenaeum Music & Arts Library, La Jolla | Bibliothèque nationale de France, Paris.
