Descripción del Artista
was born in Quinto, a small town in Zaragoza, Spain, in 1964.
He started constructing photographic cameras at age fourteen. Six years later, after a few twists and turns of life, he decided to become a painter.
At the end of 1990, Teo developed his signature style -- works that consisted of thousands of drops of water, arranged into a grid pattern, inside of which a small amount of ink or enamel was dropped and left to dry.
Teo moved to Southern California the following year. Within a month, he produced 3036 Gotas de Tinta -- the artist's first piece to ever enter the permanent collection of a museum when it was aquired by New York's Museum of Modern Art.
Teo had his first show at a professional art gallery in San Francisco in 1996 and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a dregree in art from California State University, Bakersfield in

1997. Two years later, he moved to Brooklyn, NY, where he currently lives and works.
For more than twenty five years, Teo González has relied on the grid to serve as the foundation for all of his work. Built in layers, he carefully plots individual cells which are then filled with drops of color. The end result is a topography of undulating patterns and glistening surfaces.
Although rooted in post-minimal traditions, Teo's use of the pictorial field and exploration of color draw many comparisions to Abstraction Expressionists such as Mark Rothko & Jackson Pollock, as frequently as his grids and working process do to the Minimalist artists Agnes Martin & Sol Lewitt.
His work can be found in museum collections around the world including New York's Modern Museum of Art, The National Gallery, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and Museo Pablo Serrano in Spain.
