Sofía Dourron is an art historian and curator. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Management and Art History from the University of El Salvador and is a candidate for the Master’s degree in Latin American Art History at the University of San Martín, with a focus on the sociology of culture and Museum Studies. Between 2015 and 2018 she was Curator and Coordinator of the Curatorial Department at the Museum of Modern Art of Buenos Aires, where she curated Elba Bairon. Sin título (2017), Sergio Avello: joven profesional multipropósito (2017), Formar mentalmente una máquina, a solo show by Hernán Soriano (2016), Excéntricos y Superilustrados, co-curated with Javier Villa and Laura Hakel, Hazlo tu mismo. Un proyecto de Lino Divas (2016) and Edgardo Antonio Vigo. Usina permanente de caos creativo, co-curated with Jimena Ferreiro (2016). She edited Vigo’s exhibition catalogue, a comprehensive publication of his work, and the Menesunda by Marta Minujin (2015) book, which featured an essay on the historical relevance of the original work and an essay on the reconstruction. Since 2015 she is the Director of La Ene, Nuevo Museo Energía de Arte Contemporáneo, an independent art space founded in 2010 in Buenos Aires. At La Ene she curated several exhibitions that include: A war of everyone against everyone (2016), a solo exhibition by Mexican artist Joaquín Segura; What the wind left behind. Publications by Fernanda Laguna (2015), Ghost Museum. MAMBA 1956-1960 (2013) and Tenaz (2012), a group show of colombian artists. She has also co-curated, along with her colleagues in the project, several exhibitions of La Ene’s collection: Sucursal, Bikini Wax, Ciudad de México (2016), Sala Luis Miró Quesada, Lima (2015), Museo de Arte Latinoamericano de Buenos Aires (2014); Colección, Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Rosario, Santa Fé (2014). La Ene also carries out an artist residency and a plural program of activities. In 2015 she founded, together with artist Gala Berger, Paraguay, Independent Printed Art Fair, which had its fair edition in July 2016, after having organized Tijuana Buenos Aires in 2014. She has worked in institutions like Centro Cultural Kirchner where she curated the exhibition Fragmentos de una relación postal (2015), and the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Buenos Aires, she also collaborates as an art critic with several newspapers and local magazines.
