Descripción del Artista
Sidarta Corral, born in Mexico City in 1972, grew up in the Veracruz state capital Xalapa and on a family organic
farm in the nearby municipality of Xico. His vocation as a photographer started at young age when he stated
using a Mamiya 35mm and reading photography books belonging to his Mother. He grew up very close to nature
and was surrounded by opportunities to capture images in the mist forest in the mountainous region of Veracruz.
He received an alternative education at active primary schools with a focus on the arts and home-schooling.
He later went on to learn the art from acclaimed photographers and professors at the renowned university for
Fine Arts, Universidad Veracruzana, such as Teúl Moyrón, Fernando Meza, Héctor Vicario and Sergio Maldonado.
He has worked as a graphic designer and photographer for his family business and organic produce for many
years, as sports photography for white-water river rafting companies in Veracruz, and as a freelance commercial
photographer for tourism, real estate, theatre and family and artist portraits.
Previous exhibitions include solo exhibitions at Manantial de las Flores and Urbana, in Xalapa, Veracruz, and
collective exhibitions in La Galería in San Cristobal de las Casas, Chiapas, Mexico and with Cork Camera Group in
Cork School of Music and Cork Vision Centre winning best photography in one of them. In 2015 he has exhibit in Cork's
Wandesford Quay Gallery a solo exhibition call "Abstract Reality" and In La Galería in San Cristobal de las Casas, Chiapas,
Fundación Sebastian in Mexico city and Fototeca Juan Malpica in Veracruz, Mexico a project call "De Rocas, Arena y Agua"
a photo essay of the Irish coast.
He has recently moved to Cork, Ireland, where he has dedicated his time to capture the beautiful Cork Coastline
and City and has received a distinction from Irish Photographic Federation (LIPF) and helping Cork Camera Group
win several distinctions participating with some of his images in the club's panels.
