In 2017, Selma Parlour was the recipient of the Sunny Dupree Family Award for a Woman Artist at the Summer Exhibition, Royal Academy of Arts, London; and in 2016, was a Prizewinner at the John Moores Painting Prize, Walker Gallery, Liverpool. Other notable awards include her artist residency at Dio Horia, Athens and Island of Mykonos (2015), and a runner-up award from the Arts Foundation, London (2014). During her doctoral studies at Goldsmiths, University of London, Parlour received a research support award for travel to New York (2012); and went on to complete her PhD in Art in 2014. That same year, her work was selected for Thames and Hudson's international competition and publication 100 Painters of Tomorrow. Exhibitions include Upright Animal (solo), Pi Artworks, London (2018); Parlour Games (solo), Marcelle Joseph Projects, House of St Barnabas, London; Kaleidoscope, Fold Gallery, London; John Moores Painting Prize, Walker Gallery, Liverpool (all 2016); Paradoxes of the Flattened-Out Cavity (solo), Dio Horia, Island of Mykonos (2015); Selma Parlour (solo), MOT International Projects, London (2012); Selma Parlour and Yelena Popova, Horton Gallery, New York (2012); and Bloomberg New Contemporaries, ICA, London (2011). Parlour lectures at universities and arts institutions including the Royal Academy of Arts, London, where she was invited to join a panel discussion in conjunction with their 2016 blockbuster show Abstract Expressionism. She is an Associate Lecturer in Art at Wimbledon College of Arts, London. Collections include the Creative Cities Collections, Beijing and the Saatchi Gallery, London.
