Roe Ethridge s photography oscillates between the domains of fashion and art, between the commercial and the conceptual. In images always rooted in a direct use of the world, he explores the plastic potential of his medium via different genres - stylised versions of classical compositions, portraits, landscapes, arrestingly private everyday details - which he adapts and blends to create fresh visual experiences. From one image to the next, from one framing approach to the next, Ethridge - also the creator of the 2013 Biennial poster - builds a generous, receptive narrative.
