Rita Gaspar Vieira vive y trabaja en Lisboa y Leiria. Born in Leiria in 1976. Lives and works between Leiria and Lisbon. Studied Visual Arts at the Faculdade de Belas Artes, in the University of Lisbon, where did graduated in Plastic Arts - Painting; the Master's Degree in Theories of Art and the PhD in Belas Artes - in the specialty of Drawing. Her work has been problematizing the relationship between daily practices, which are the routines of daily life, and the artistic procedures that these practices constitute in your work, considering the creative difference achieved in view of the expectations with which these actions are carried out. In all of these practices the use of water is decisive. In its praxis, the production of handmade cotton paper, which constitutes the genesis of the design and its installations, is a recurring feature that relates works and places directly. In addition, her work has an ethical and political dimension that shows what is apparently insignificant, focusing on the look in detail, the re-signification and appreciation of what is common, invisible and often not valued. Has been exhibiting regularly since 2012, taking part in SPM (in partnership with Nuno Sousa Vieira), in the Jardim de Santo Agostinho, Leiria, in 2004, and her work in institutional collections such as the PLMJ Collection and in various private collections.
