Ntone Edjabe (Cameroon) is a journalist and DJ. He is the founder, among many other initiatives, of Chimurenga (a pan-African publication of art, culture, and politics based in Cape Town) and the Pan African Space Station (PASS), an Internet radio platform streamed live across the African world. The title Chimurenga refers to the Shona word for struggle, as well as to a popular music genre in Zimbabwe. Edjabe’s practice as a DJ weds musical erudition and explicit political engagement centred on Africa’s place in the world. He is also co-editor of the African Cities Reader and Program Director of the 2017 RAW Academy in Dakar. Edjabe won the Principal Award of the Prince Claus Awards in 2011.
