Descripción del Artista
Miguel Angel Melgares (Malaga, 1980) works as a visual artist and as a dramaturge for several interdisciplinary performance artists. Melgares graduated from the sculpture department of the University of Granada. His ambitions in the field of performing arts moved him to settle in Amsterdam to take part in the Master of Theatre at DasArts, where he graduated in 2010.
In Amsterdam he has developed an intense activity working as a collaborator for several artists (dramaturge, stage design, artistic advisor, collective work) like Latvian director Elina Cerpa, works with Canadian choreographer Maria Kefirova, the continuous development of performances with Sonja Jokiniemi or the close collaboration with German artist Julian Hetzel. These artists present their works in the international performing art circuits, and lately these collaborations were presented for example at Playground Festival in STUK, Leuven (BE), Frascati Something Raw Festival, Amsterdam (NL), Spieltart Festival in Munich (DE) or Zodiak in Helsinki (FI).
Parallel to his creative work, Miguel has initiated projects like the SLOW DOWN Winter Performance Festival or BastardScene, a permanent Seminary about Expanded Performance, Language and Edition in the University of Granada.
