Michael Morris Baylson (Philadelphia, 1939) is a senior federal judge on the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, since 2002. He is married to Frances Ruth Batzer Baylson, M.D, and resides in the East Falls neighborhood of Philadelphia. In 2010, this couple donated to The Morgan Library & Museum, in New York, a group of books illustrated by modern master Henri Matisse. This important gift gathers more than 400 items includes every significant work described in the catalogue raisonné of Matisse's work, including deluxe artist's books, publications to which Matisse contributed prints and original cover art, a small selection of artist-annotated proofs, reference books, and the promised gift of his masterpiece Jazz (1947).
