Guggenheim curator Katherine Brinson, who joined the museum in 2005, is since july 2017 the first Daskalopoulos Curator, Contemporary Art. The position has been created, in perpetuity, with the support of Dimitris Daskalopoulos, a Vice President of the Board of Trustees and Chairman of the Collections Council of the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation.
