Descripción del Artista
Ilán Rabchinskey was born in 1980 in Mexico City. He has a BA in Media and Audiovisual Studies by the Universidad Iberoamericana and has lived in England, Spain and Israel.
His work explores the tension between the forces of nature and the development of human civilization, the physical constitution of matter, and humanity’s relationship with itself and other forms of biological and material existence on the planet.
He has exhibited in Mexico, France, England, United States Spain and Chile, as well as art fairs like Zona MACO, Paris Photo LA, HFAF and Gallery Weekend MX.
In 2006 he was recipient ofthe Cultural Projects and Co-investments Development Program from the FONCA National Endowment for the Arts and is currently under the Young Creators Grant, awarded by the same institution.
He is the author of Yo’tan K’op Corazón de la Palabra (Yo’tanK’op Heart of the Word), Remolino de Tierra (Whirlwind of Earth), and El Medio Terreste (Terrestrial Environment) published respectively by Trilce, Ediciones Acapulco and Artes de Mexico.
In addition to his work as an artist, he has published as independent editorial photographer in numerous art, architecture and travel books as well as magazines like LAT Photo Magazine, Esquire, Conde Nast Traveler, Elle, Travel + Leisure, Gatopardo, GQ, Marie Claire, Life & Style and Frente.
He currently lives and works in Mexico City.
