Descripción del Artista
As a researcher and artist, my career has revolved around exploring the intersections of sex work, art, and masculinity. Over the past fourteen years, my work has evolved from a focus on the stigmas surrounding sex work to a deeper exploration of desire and its influence on masculinity.
Initially, I began documenting the experiences of sex workers in «night-clubs» as a consumer myself. This sparked my curiosity about the motivations of the attendees and the role of these spaces in shaping masculine identities. Consequently, I shifted my focus to photographing Latin male sex workers, using their work areas as both photographic locations and platforms for discussions on desire, performance, and the pressures of hegemonic masculinity.
Currently, I collaborate with Latin male escorts and amateur porn actors, fostering a non-transactional relationship where they have full access to the photographs and videos I create. While my own heterosexual preferences lie outside the desire they provoke, together we challenge societal norms and question how desire is manifested in the sexualized body and fragmented notions of masculinity.
Furthermore, I delve into the construction of explicit pornography and its potential for reclaiming eroticism. In today’s image-saturated world, I explore the blurred boundaries between what is deemed pornographic and what is considered acceptable, aiming to spark open and uninhibited debates on morality and perception.
Through my work, I seek to provoke critical discussions and challenge preconceived notions, ultimately shedding light on the complexities of sex work, desire, and masculinity in contemporary society.
