Gabriele Romeo is an art historian, critic, curator, lecturer, essayist, teacher, illustrator and visual artist.
Born in 1983, he studied at the Istituto Statale d’Arte per il Mosaico in Monreale. In 2006 he then graduated in Sciences and Technologies of Art at the University of Palermo, his native city.
He then moved to the University of Bologna, where he completed a specialistic postgraduate course in History of Contemporary Art (2009).
In 2014 he attend the course for curators of contemporary imagery (ICON) at the Fondazione Fotografia di Modena.
Between 2013 and 2016 he curated several exhibitions for the promotion of emerging contemporary art in collaboration with the Venice Carnival. In 2017 he was curator of the Pavilion of the Plurinational State of Bolivia at the 57th Venice Art Biennale.
Is currently a professor of Contemporary Art History, Phenomenology of contemporary arts, and History of Applied Arts at the Albertina Academy of Fine Arts in Turin.
In 2017 he was invited by the European Cultural Academy (ECA), in Venice, as Lecturer for the course of Curatorial Practices for foreign students. A member of AICA (International Association of Art Critics), Open Section, Skira author, he lives and works between Venice and Turin. April 2021, he was elected president of AICA Italia (International Association of Art Critics).
