Descripción del Artista
Eric Muñoz has been researching aspects of ecology and Pop through his sculptures, paintings and installations. Collecting discarded beverage and food containers, cigarette packages and waste, Muñoz is best known for his reproductions of these objects cast in plaster, reviving them through strategies of appropriation. Inspired by the sixties tradition of Hand Painted Pop, and influenced by pioneers such as Andy Warhol and Jasper Johns, Muñoz paints his cast subjects in their same colors and fonts with a sense of humor, conceptually solid and purposefully flawed in execution, he presents them as critiques of consumerism.
Eric Muñoz’s work has been exhibited internationally at institutions such as Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Colima, (Colima, México),
Casa de Cultura de Morelia, (Michoacán, México), Casa Lamm, (México City, México), Museo Universitario del Chopo, (México City, México), Aspen Art Museum (Aspen, Colorado) and with Anonymous Gallery at Zona Maco, (México City, México) Untitled (Miami, Florida), and the exhibition Chivo Fresco, Curated by Victor Zamudio-Taylor (México City, Mexico)
