Following his death in May 2014, it was revealed that Cornelius Gurlitt had bequeathed his collection to Kunstmuseum Bern, comprising around 1,500 works and including works on paper by Claude Monet, Paul Cézanne, Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, Otto Dix and Gustave Courbet.
