Descripción del Artista

"In her drawings, words are given shape and sentences become slogans, creating figures that range from the recognizable to the abstract. At times Azcona employs the lyrics sung by her favourite artistes to create artwork for the music industry. Using graphite, coloured pencils, fine or thick-tipped markers she hand-draws a diverse range of lettering styles, often interspersing different languages to produce a chaotic, dense network of drawings. Like calligrams, her drawings represent creatures from the animal kingdom or hybrids- creatures which are humanized through her use of lettering that fills each figure. Azcona is also known for her ability to translate the intimate feel of notebook sketches to large-scale poster art and commissioned murals. Her art is influenced by the Dada movement and the films of the French Wave, with music as her permanent mainstay."
