Annette Lin is a freelance journalist writing about design, culture and contemporary art, through the lens of foreign policy and social movements (especially immigration and climate).
Based between Sydney and Mexico City, she has written for publications such as Foreign Policy, The Nation, Teen Vogue, New Republic, CityLab, Hyperallergic, Artsy and GARAGE.
A former fashion writer for Vogue.com.au, Matches Fashion and Moda Operandi, she also does freelance branded content, copywriting and marketing for clients such as Spotify, Edition Hotels and The Atlantic. You can see more examples of her commercial work here.
She holds an M.A. in Journalism from Columbia University, where she specialized in urbanism and architecture in Latin America through complementary studies at Columbia University’s GSAPP. Her research on modernist Uruguayan architect Mauricio Cravotto was included in (Radical) Functionalism in Latin America, published by Columbia University Office of Publications in 2019. Prior to that she received a double B.A. in Journalism and International Studies (Mexico) from UTS in Australia and the Universidad de Guadalajara, Mexico.
She speaks fluent Spanish and English (with some Cantonese in there) and is available for freelance assignments in reporting, editing, arts criticism, translation, fixing, and 35mm film photography, or is always up for anything new.
