Allison Malinsky (b. 1980, Canterbury, New Hampshire, USA) earned both her undergraduate degree in Studio Art (2002) and her Master of Art (2008) from New York University, the latter in a combined degree with the International Center of Photography (ICP). Malinsky was the first American to hold the Netherlands University Institute for Art History in Florence Artist-in-Residence in 2023, followed by her 2024 solo exhibition, Primavera, and a forthcoming catalog. She has been internationally exhibiting her work since 2001, and in Barcelona in 2016, she first showed her three-dimensional voluminous paintings for her solo exhibition called Proper Part of the Whole in Barcelona, which garnered a spread in La Vanguardia: Culture. Among other awards, she was granted residencies at the Cooper Union School of Art, the Vermont Studio Center (Painting Fellowship Award), and the Ox-Bow School of Art (International Fall Fellowship). In addition to her visual work, she participated in other creative interests; from 2013-2018, she was the host and producer of the podcast New York City Arts Radio, and in 2021, she became the Founding Director of the Barcelona-based art project LA HUERTA. She has been living and working in Spain since 2010.
