Descripción del Artista
My artistic work is a simple search for honest and abstract, lyrical images. I seek to omit artifices in my work, I focus on nature as an object of study, though, I look to paint beyond a mere evident representation of nature. My approach to painting, including it’s technical aspects, is reliant upon the tools and means that are near to me.
The materials by which I have come to create include: oils, charcoals and sanginas on canvas or paper. These materials facilitate me well in my investigation of nature and life’s deeper meanings. The oil helps me in color and atmosphere creation and the charcoals and sanginas allow elaboration of the line and other drawing elements. Together, they create the sensation of structures in the pictorial composition.
I paint directly on canvas without previous sketches or preconceived ideas. Hence, my painting becomes an exercise wherein each piece is the continuation of previous one, a pictorial process, with reflection on format. Furthermore, the composition of each piece is a performance for me; a sort of painting technique in musical improv. Within this musical improvisation of painting, I awaken my primary sensations in order to put free and spontaneous compositions to canvas. This freedom to lay spontaneous composition to canvas demands a dialogue between the painter and the elements wherein the artistic language is created.
On My Painting
From the very beginning, it has been important for me to search for a way to reproduce imaginative pictorial sensations. I am also inspired by real, outside spaces and how, through my memory of them, I transform these images into new scenes full of emotion and shaped by my personal experiences and feelings. Often the result is dreamlike forms wherein the physical spaces become sensations of outline, line and gesture. Painting, as a form of expression, investigates that which we observe and interprets this through our personal, and very subjective languages. My painting’s are in this way subjective and very personal.
The Life Series
The Life Series... Is of an inner spiritual state, in which I propose to dream. It is an imaginative and a lyrical reality just like a dream or a fairy tale, full of symbols, veils and space. The characters painted inhabit this land of poetry and fantasy. Additionally, the rain stands as a metaphor of life, and the way it give us many things and sometimes takes them away
