Construction material inventories have been made of the weight of whole buildings, and entire cities – beginning with Lund, Sweden, and including among the world’s largest urbanisations: São Paulo, Brazil. Calculations were made by compiling existing measurements from district plans or architectural drawings; when this information was not already readily available, structures were surveyed directly and buildings inventoried systematically.
