Descripción de la Exposición ------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------- Annemarie de Villiers artistic career is a little bit unconventional. She has no formal art education. Instead, she practices as a family doctor in London. This occupation allows her the privilege to closely examine her favourite subject, the human mind and body. Illness paradoxically shows us at our strongest and most frail and it is this openness and honesty that inspire the artist. She has drawn caricatures since her childhood, which she spent in South Africa. As a youngster, she was an avid reader of the Harvey comics, with its exaggerated characters, such a Richie Rich, Little Lotta and Casper the Friendly Ghost. After many years of life drawing and some frustrating attempts at life sculpture she discovered her medium, decorated ceramics, and has been practising this art form for the past 6 years.
