Descripción de la Exposición
Oscar Murillo was born in 1986 in Colombia and moved to London with his family when he was ten years old. His practice incorporates a variety of techniques and media including painting, performance, drawing, collaborative works, sculpture and sound, often using recycled materials and fragments collected from his studio. Many of his works undergo multiple processes in the studio before being exhibited. Murillo’s work reflects his own experience of displacement, and the social fallout of globalisation. This new exhibition will include painting, installation, sound and live performance, taking place in the galleries and across Kettle’s Yard.
A painting by Murillo, Tamawuj, was included in the reopening exhibition at Kettle’s Yard in 2018, ‘Actions. The image of the world can be different’. Murillo has held solo exhibitions around the world and was included in the Venice Biennale in 2015 and the Sharjah Biennial in 2017. Murillo’s exhibition at Kettle’s Yard is his first solo exhibition at a UK public institution since his acclaimed 2013 exhibition at South London Gallery.
