Descripción de la Exposición ------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------- The Gabarron Foundation, in honor of its 10th Anniversary, presents 'Two Hemispheres', an exhibition of young contemporary American and Spanish artists. The purpose of this special exhibition is for American artists from New York to build a cultural dialogue with their fellow Spanish artists, recognizing the strong link among the United States, Latin America, and Spain. The artwork will be on view until November 29th and will then be sent to the Foundation's other galleries in Spain for additional exhibitions, where they will become part of The Gabarron Foundation Contemporary Art Collection. The Opening Reception at the Carriage House will be held on Friday, September 14th, from 6 to 8 pm. All are welcome to attend so long as they RSVP to rsvp@gabarron.org or call 212-573-6968 prior to the date. With just over 300 works of art entered in the contest, this exhibition will be comprised of works by twenty-six up-and-coming artists from the New York area, as well as seven artists from Spain. Their works were selected based upon the decision of a jury, which included the following distinguished persons: Cris Gabarrón, President of The Gabarron Foundation Jason Edward Kaufman, notable arts journalist Heidi Lee, director of Waterhouse and Dodd Contemporary NY Cay Sophie Rabinowitz, contemporary art writer, curator, and producer Elga Wimmer, curator and president of Elga Wimmer PCC Gallery In addition, the Foundation launched a Social Media Art Contest to encourage their fans to vote for their favorite work of art to be included in the exhibition. Ultimately, thirty-two winners were selected by a jury and one winner was selected via the Social Media Contest. 'Two Hemispheres' is the first in a series of exhibitions that is to take place here in the City of New York, and subsequently in Spain. The New York and Spanish winners of the 'Two Hemispheres' Art Contest are the following: Haylee Anne, Samuel Ash, Jason Clay Lewis, Louise Barry, Mustafa Faruki, Victor Fernandez, Laura F. Gibellini, Dani Grant, Jennifer Grimyser, Alteronce Gumby, Samantha Heydt, Shirin Hosseinvand, Kang Joo Lee, Walter Markham, David Pettibone, John de la O, Jacqueline Ramis, Simone Rene, Hernando Rico Sánchez, John Ros, Elena Santoliquido, Boris Tyomkin, Katie Urban, Chris Willcox, and Jamie Martinez (Social Media winner). Spanish winners include, Inma Fiero, Vicente Garcia, Pablo Lambertos, Nerea Lorences, Diego Pardo, and Plata Ruiz. The artists will have one of their submitted works on view on the first and second floor galleries of the Carriage House. Each original work ranges from paintings, drawings, and photographs to on-site installations, a truly diverse show.
