Descripción de la Exposición
The Danish museum ARoS Aarhus Art Museum will be presenting from 14 October a major exhibition of Joana Vasconcelos, alongside the artist’s largest Valkyrie to date, to be part of the museum's permanent collection.
The show Textures of Life not only features some of the artist’s most iconic works, such as The Bride, Independent Heart, Marilyn and Lilicoptère, but is also a retrospective of 20 years of career, including works from 1996 until today. The 16 installations that compose the exhibition will be presented in a unique display of suspended textiles.
The 50-metre long Valkyrie Rán has been made specifically for ARoS and will be spreading throughout the museum’s eight storey building. The installation combines the traditional techniques that characterize the Valkyries, such as crochet and embroidery, with LED technology, and the exquisite fabrics of Kvadrat, Europe’s leading manufacturer of design textiles. The musician Jonas Runa has devised a sound and light composition specifically for this installation, adding another layer to Valkyrie Rán.
