Descripción de la Exposición BOSI Contemporary announces Sprouted, a solo exhibition by Brazilian Art Gardener André Feliciano. As a self-proclaimed 'art gardener working in the field of photography', Feliciano aims to materialize the present while cultivating the future. Featuring photographic works and a new large-scale installation, this exhibit explores the symbolic relationship between photography and society. Feliciano's playful, engaging creations nurture photographic culture both mentally and physically. In an oversaturated world where the intricacies of photography are easily overlooked, Feliciano strives to understand how society is affected by this now commonplace technology. He explains: 'Usually when we think about photography we consider the innumerous ways that a camera can interact with the outside. As well, we think about the large use of photography in our everyday lives. Photography is everywhere. In this situation, we are so immersed that we can no longer distinguish how photography influences our way of living. This exhibition is a moment to celebrate and think about photography itself in a different way.' Using synthetic material, Feliciano has created over 5000 small size flower-cameras that combine to form a garden. He invites the viewer to experience the camera as a natural object through an immersive botanical experience, traditional photo gallery, and nostalgic flower stand. These entities converge to illustrate Feliciano's heightened focus on the camera that questions whether this technology is now a fetishized object or the honey of life. Coinciding with Sprouted, Feliciano will anchor Photoville, a public exhibition at Brooklyn Bridge Park from September 19 to 29. His sculpture will play an integral part in this pop-up village that showcases contemporary photography from around the globe. Andre Feliciano (b. 1984, São Paulo, Brazil) is a multidisciplinary art gardener splitting his time between Sao Paulo and New York. Noted group shows include the Art and Gastronomy Festival, São Paulo Modern Museum, São Paulo, Brazil (2012) and Photoville, Brooklyn Bridge Park, New York (2012), and a performative solo show Under the Photographic Moonlight, Zipper Galeria, São Paulo, Brazil (2012).
