Descripción de la Exposición
On November 25th, at 4PM, Kubikgallery (Rua da Restauração nº6, Porto) opens the exhibition Sonatas and Interludes by Rui Valério.
Sound, pause or bridge are concepts that the artist recreates by acting on the written representation of sound, of musical notation code and its medium – the musical score.
Sonatas and Interludes started with the conception of a series of drawings in which the artist explores different types of graphic approach, techniques and materials that avoid the conventional notion of drawing and writing that usually are the result of the gesture.
The kinaesthetic transposition of visual to audio assumes itself as the conceptual starting point that defines the set of artworks presented – drawings and installations – that compose the exhibition and, simultaneously, allows stating that the exhibition is entirely the result of a composition process.
Rui Valério was born in Lisbon in 1969. He lives and works between Lisbon and Évora: he has been developing his artistic path since 1997 and teaches in the Department of Visual Arts at the University of Évora since 2001.
