Descripción del Premio
The School of Arts at the Universidade Católica Portuguesa is accepting applications for an artistic residency funded by the InResidence program, promoted by the Porto Municipality. The selected artist will work for a period of three months, between September and December 2022. The goal of the residency program is to provide space, time and assistance for research, experiment and production in the development of the selected candidate body of work. The result of the residency will be publicly presented in a format to be discussed with the School of Arts upon arrival (exhibition, performance, conference, concert, talk).
Artists such as Ben Russell, Matías Piñeiro, Ana Vaz, Salomé Lamas, Vasco Araújo, Nuno da Luz, Igor Jesus, Jonathan Uliel Saldanha, Yohei Yamakado are among the previous residents of the SoA, under different funding programs.
Conditions of the residency
The residency will be funded accordingly to the country where the artist works and lives: 4,000 EUR for artists based in Portugal; 5,000 EUR for artists based in Europe; 6,000 EUR for artists based outside Europe. This value will cover all expenses related with the residency, namely, artistic fee, materials, travels, accommodation and meals.
Eligibility
The call is open to all artists, from any geographic context, working with any media.
Calendar
The Call will be open from February 28 until April 15. The final decision will be announced on May 1 after thorough analysis. The residency will start on September 15 and run until December 15.

All candidates should deliver the following documents in English or Portuguese: (A) full-cv; (B) portfolio; (C) motivation letter; (D) a brief synopsis of the project to be developed.

Selection Committee
A selection committee, composed of Diogo Tudela (in representation of the School of Arts), Marta Mestre (general curator of the José de Guimarães International Arts Centre), and Pedro Huet (a member of the programming team of Sismógrafo, Porto), will select the candidate.
The School of Arts at Universidade Católica Portuguesa, Porto
The School of Arts at Universidade Católica Portuguesa is based in Porto and offers graduate and undergraduate courses in Film, Music, Sound, Photography, New Media, Heritage and Conservation. The selected candidate should be able to articulate/integrate the aforementioned research areas in the work to be developed during the residency. The School of Arts facilities include sound recording studios and equipment, editing rooms and filming equipment, a MoCap room, a Chroma Key studio, a fabrication lab, besides painting and sculpture studios.

The School of Arts (SoA) offers an intense cultural program, with artists in residence (in 2021 Matías Piñeiro and Igor Jesus, 2020 Ben Russel and Vasco Araújo; former residents include Nuno da Luz, Ana Vaz, Jonathan Uliel Saldanha, Salomé Lamas and Yohei Yamakado), a cycle of conferences with special guests (artists, filmmakers, scholars), and a periodic calendar of exhibitions at the School’s exhibition space (since 2018, the School presented exhibitions by Francisco Tropa, João Paulo Serafim, Salomé Lamas, Mariana Caló & Francisco Queimadela, Nuno da Luz, Julião Sarmento, Jonathan Saldanha and Guido Guidi). Also, its Research Center for the Science and Technology of the Arts (CITAR) has a plan of activities closely related to the School and it is funded by ongoing projects and by the government institution the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT).
