Descripción de la Exposición
Peres Projects announces the third solo exhibition of Rafa Silvares’ (b. 1984 in Santos, BR) at our space in Milan.
Silvares’ practice thematizes the fixtures of urban life, depicting the inanimate in motion – a burning pan, running faucet, steaming pipes. The starkness of his industrialized landscapes are rendered playful and engaging through his vibrant palette and gentle gradients. Industrial textures such as metal and plastic are rounded and soft in Silvares’ paintings. The artist experiments in reductive geometry and graphic shapes, engaging with seriality as a thread throughout the works. The structural and architectural shapes that populate his works are both minimal and abundant, facilitating an exploration of the spatial qualities of the canvas surface. He earned degrees in Fine Arts from Fundação Armando Alvares Penteado, São Paulo and in Language and Literature from FFLCH University of São Paulo.
