Descripción de la Exposición ------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------------- Despite numerous crises the concept of painting remains in continuous flux. Also, the notion of pictorial field that intends to define the limits of the image and its place within space has been evolving in different directions. According to Leon Battista Alberti (1404-1472), the picture becomes a metaphysical window open towards history at large thus exploring the act of representation itself. Accordingly, visual experience cross-examines the frontiers between the virtual and the real, the visible and the hidden, etc. Pictorial Field aims to investigate these diverse parameters presenting artists who carry on cross-media practices. While referring to painting, all the works tend to escape the 'traditional' framework of the canvas. Physical substance such as pigment, leather, carpets, magnetic tape, recycled material, etc. echoes with immateriality present through music/sound or light.
