Descripción de la Exposición

Future Gallery is pleased to present Pathology Loop a solo exhibition of new works by Iain Ball. This exhibition marks the artist’s second solo exhibition with the gallery. “I see this intensification of culture war politics and how it is played out online with emerging visual cultures and attitudes as evolving. The post-truth era media landscape and meme culture is becoming more weaponised and niche. I guess you could use the term ‘global weirding’ to describe this new and emergent online landscape Or ‘networked collective intelligence’ – A term taken from Jordan Greenhall’s situational assessment essays. I’ve looked at what is coming out of various twitter spheres, read news articles and google searched anything that comes into my brain. Then I have these particular Internet surf sessions where I keep a lot of this visual material and screen grabs from those sessions and smash them together to document the exploration. That is what the works end up being. So I see the works partly as artefacts from a particular moment in time that might otherwise be lost but also as a way to represent the convergence of niche images and information coming out of internet culture.” – Iain Ball Iain Ball (born 1985 in South West England) is a British artist based in London. His ‘post-media or / trans media’ practice, which seeks to challenge interfaces, materiality and modes of viewership explores systems and networked structures which connect Internet Culture, Consumer Capitalism, Geography, Climate Change, Globalisation and Mysticism. Much of his work deals with how networks, environments, disruptive technologies and complex systems power up and transform (art) objects and (art) materials in strange unforeseen ways. Recently he has Collaborated with Artist Bora Akinciturk for an exhibition at narrative projects, London entitled; Skee, 2019. Solo shows include Energy Pangea: QUIPROH, + Gashi/Gic/Graph > Slimefest (Lutetium), Alyssa Davis Gallery NY (2018) Praseodymium at Cell Project Space, London UK (2016) and ENERGY PANGEA + GOCH live at Future Gallery, Berlin (2015). His work has been featured in Art Monthly, Frieze, Vice, Dazed & Confused, The post internet Survival Guide, Rare Earth Exhibition Catalogue, and Sleek Magazine. He holds an MFA in Sculpture from the Slade School of Fine Art (2015).
