El Museo del Barrio and The Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop collaborate again on an exhibition at the Blackburn 20/20 gallery space. Paper Hotshots features the work of 30 contemporary artists working in comics or illustration or influenced by the traditions of comics and graphic novels. The style, narrative traditions, aesthetics, forms, colors or philosophies of comic book illustration inspire artists in this exhibition. Some make works that are comic publications, others have adapted comics to their less-traditional works. Science fiction, fantasy and other alternative narratives may have served as inspiration for the prints, collages and mixed media paintings in this small exhibition. Superheroes, celebrity heroes, villains, assorted quirky characters, fantasy figures, invented creatures, variations on these are all present. At Blackburn 20/20, El Museo del Barrio explores the Latino presence in this very American genre.
