Having created his first three-dimensional pieces with wood for a solo exhibition held last December in Barcelona, Vasco Mourão continued to experiment with other forms of blurring the lines between two-dimensional drawing and the sculptural object. The most recent materialisation of his hyper-depictions of urban landscapes is presented here in brass discs where, according to the artist, he managed to find the perfect balance between the thickness of paper and the strength of a frame capable of holding itself. Each disc was subjected to a colouring process with acids (vinegar and salt) in order to create a unique canvas of subtle textures and hues. From this foundation, the artist then drew his meandering architectural compositions with a black pen.
