Descripción del Premio
Taking part in a Residency at GlogauAIR in Berlin artists with diverse social and geographical backgrounds, will receive curatorial support, technical support and develop their work in a dynamic community. At the same time they will get to know a new culture and landscape, getting influences from Berlin, renowned for its contemporary culture.
During the Residency each artist will live at GlogauAIR’s Studios, having the opportunity to completely immerse themselves in a creative process as well as share ideas and opinions with the other artists in residence.

3 to 6 months
Accommodation
There are 13 private studios distributed over the top 3 floors of this historic Kreuzberg building from 1896. Each floor has shared kitchen, shower, WC and WIFI. Basic expenses (maintenance, gas, electricity, and internet) and utilities are included in the accommodation. The kitchens are equipped and the studios have a double sofa bed with bed linen, table, chairs, desk lamp / bed lamp, wardrobe and shelves. There is also a charming garden and a backyard for common use.
Disciplines, work equipment and assistance
GlogauAIR is a space for all types of artists. We welcome applications from all around the world and various backgrounds and artistic disciplines. The applications are reviewed by GlogauAIR’s team which is comprised of local and international art professionals.
Curatorial Support – As part of the residency program, an experienced international curator part of GlogauAIR team will offer assistance during the residency time. Through individual meetings, the curator will share ideas, references, and possibilities to enrich the creative process. The close professional exchange between artist and curator can be a source of expanding the creative experience, opening new professional horizons in the art and cultural field and enable learning about other trends or disciplines.
Technical Assistance – The GlogauAIR team will provide assistance, advice and will attend basic technical demands at specific points during the residency and in preparation for the Open Studios. GlogauAIR will also provide access to all the equipment and tools available in the residence, including woodworking tools and multimedia equipment such as projectors and screens.
Studio / Workspace
The residence is located in a beautiful, modernist-style building that was designed to be a school. It is the first work projected and built by the architect Ludwig Hoffmann, in 1896, after his nomination as Building Adviser of the city. Different activities and collaboration projects are organized in or by GlogauAIR, including artist talks, interviews, studio visits and interchange programs with other residences and institutions, as well as a welcome lunch to get you introduced to GlogauAIR’s community. Each artist has a private work/live studio. Kitchen and bathroom are shared on each floor.
Fees and support
Accommodation and studio space are 700 € per month (900€ for duos)
Program and Technical Support Fee is 1.500 € per quarter
Deposit guarantee is 1.000 € (which will be refunded at the end of the Residency)
Expectations towards the artist
Artists are required to present work and attend each Open Studio within their residency period. Lack of fulfilment of this condition can result in charges equivalent to the whole rental deposit guarantee at the sole discretion of GlogauAIR.
Application information
The applications are reviewed by GlogauAIR’s jury, comprised of local and international art professionals.
