Descripción de la Exposición

Figurative painting connects language and narration with the image, delving into the multiple meanings of representation. However, the artists of Of Flesh and Air, departed from figurative representation and leaned towards the search and creation of new forms of representation; sometimes based in real images, others in imposible compositions or simply in decorative motifs. These new forms disconnect themselves from the original image, barely leaving a footprint or a sign, finding their own logic. By deeply enveloping themselves in the complexities of the medium of painting, these artists create new forms, as well as spaces between them, with an ironic presence and the enigma of morphosis. Gregory Amenoff is a painter who lives in New York City and Ulster County, New York. He is the recipient of numerous awards from organizations including the American Academy of Arts and Letters, National Endowment for the Arts, New York State Council on the Arts and the Tiffany Foundation. His work is in the permanent collections of more than thirty museums, including the Whitney Museum of America Art, the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
