Descripción de la Exposición

Pioneering figure of Portuguese archaeology, Francisco Martins Sarmento was also a photographer.

 

His images, grouped within two categories - portraits and archaeological photography for scientific purposes - express his spirit of curiosity, his continual path of searching and learning.

 

The exhibition The Photographer Martins Sarmento, the second chapter in the Reimagining Guimarães project, presents a revision of that photographic corpus and establishes a relation with two of Sarmento's works: Annotations on photography and the Photographic album of the Citânia de Briteiros.

 

This event will also comprise the publication of the Martins Sarmento photographic diaries.
