On April 8th at 4PM at KUBIKULO (Rua da Restauração nº10, Porto) opens the intervention by Isabel Simões, Nonsense II, curated by Lourenço Egreja.
For her first intervention at KUBIKULO, Isabel presents a painting that questions the light, volume, surface, visibility, layers, depth and weight. An interior point of view for a vision that starts from the exterior that changes according to the lighting conditions of the exhibition space.
Isabel Simões (1981) has a bachelor degree in painting by Faculty of Fine Arts of Lisbon. From her most recent exhibitions we can highlight: Das Camuflagem (2016) Casa Museu Medeiros e Almeida and the collectives: Portugal em Flagrante, Centro de Arte Moderna da Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian (2017); 22º Programa de Exposições, Carpe Diem Arte e Pesquisa (2016). In 2011 she was the artist in residence at Künstlerhaus Bethanien with the scholarship João Hogan - Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian.
Lourenço Egreja is an independent curator of projects such as Carpe Diem Arte e Pesquisa, Associação Abraço, and Projeto Correspondência. In the United States of America, after the conclusion of the MA in History of Art, worked for Creative Time, Wave Hill, The Roy Lichstenstein Foundation. In Portugal developed and coordinated projects Anteciparte, in the editions of 2005, 2006, 2007 e 2008; Smallbox28 at Hospital Júlio de Matos; As Sete Maravilhas EDP; Junho das Artes in Óbidos.
