Descripción de la Exposición

"Este sintoma de uma cidade em transformação, atravessada por novas configurações geográficas geram os mapas ou pinturas de Gontijo. O conjunto de colagens, recortes, fitas adesivas e tinta, evidencia a complexa trama de uma cidade. Estão lá a diversidade de línguas, aproximações, estranhamentos, atritos, culturas, sons que geram embates e diferenças entre eles, e é exatamente por esse motivo que a cidade se torna ativa e vibrante. This symptom of a city in transformation, traversed by new geographic layouts result in Gontijo’s maps and paintings. The set of collages, cutouts, adhesive tapes and paint highlights the complex fabric of a city. There is the diversity of disturbances, languages, approaches, strangeness, conflicts, cultures, sounds that generate clashes and differences between them, and this is the very reason that makes the city active and vibrant. Esta sensação de dispersão, falta de controle e alargamento das cidades se reflete na obra da artista pelo fato do nosso olhar perder um ponto de referência. Ele é levado a vagar simultaneamente por uma multiplicidade de áreas, sem se prender a um centro. É instável, expansiva e nos leva a pensar a sua continuidade plástica para além dos limites da moldura, pois convoca a nossa imaginação a perceber que está “se fazendo” a todo o tempo This feeling of dispersal, lack of control at times, and expansion of the cities is reflected in the artist’s works by the fact that our gaze misses a point of reference.
