Descripción de la Exposición
Galeria Duarte Sequeira is pleased to present “Mommie Dearest”, a solo exhibition by artist-in-residence Lucile Littot, with the support of Fondation des Artistes (FR).
Taking from ancient and contemporary mythologies, Lucile Littot’s work draws references from both the field of scholarly and popular culture to create a world of shared fantasy.
Inspired by the homonymous film by Frank Perry, Lucile Littot develops a series of paintings and ceramics for “Mommie Dearest” that explore identity formation, childhood trauma, body fetishization, Hollywood archetypes, kitsch, glamour and psychedelia with a satirical approach. The artist injects a dose of humor to her subjects in order to present her own version of Artaud´s “Theatre of cruelty” and to raise questions around our illusions of and expectations in life.
Lucile Littot (b. 1985, Paris) is a French artist, living and working in Paris. She is a graduate of the Ecole Superieure D’Art de Rueil-Malmaison in 2008 and the Ecole de Beaux-Arts de Marseille.
In 2019, Littot was nominated for the 20th Ricard Corporate Fuondation Prize, in France, commissioned by the artist Neil Beloufa.
