Descripción de la Exposición
The gallery is pleased to present the exhibition of Miguel Branco at the Château de Fontainebleau as part of the France-Portugal Season 2022 and the 11th edition of the Art History Festival dedicated to the theme of the animal. In a dialogue with the history of the castle and the history of art, the works will be presented in the Galerie des Cerfs, the Garden of Diana, the yellow salon of the Empress's private apartments, the antechamber of the Emperor's private apartments and the private Library of the Emperor's private apartments.
The work of Miguel Branco is thorough and prolonged. Surveying his artwork (sculptures, paintings and drawings) clearly reveals the signs of a direction – not linear or continuous but constantly connecting the world of forms and sensations to the world of ideas and reflection, configuring a process of purification and concentration, and abstractionism – which allows densification as much as evanescence, weight as much as lightness. Miguel Branco studied at the University of Fine Arts of Lisbon and since 1994 has directed the Department of Painting of the Center of Art and Visual Communication in Lisbon, Ar.Co.
