Descripción de la Exposición
The exhibition MESCLADO departs from the dialogue between the works of Felipe Arturo (Bogotá, 1979) and Luís Lázaro Matos (Évora, 1987), and in the first instance, this connection is based on the way each artist handles - in a highly idiosyncratic manner - the ideas of migration and metamorphosis of architectural forms (especially those with a modernist trend, in a search for formal purity). Taking this characteristic as a starting point, MESCLADO explores the possibilities for historical rewriting and re-elaboration, promoting its contamination, creating fictions and parallel narrative lines or alternative interpretations closed by the official world of historiography.
This attitude of permanent mixing between official and vernacular, existent in the creative practices of Felipe Arturo and Luís Lázaro Matos, pounder, in a certain way, on the existent behaviour in narratives of oral tradition: stories with diluted characters are as they continuously cross borders and become geographically dispersed, and adapting/ acquiring new forms and meanings, while maintaining a archetypal root.
MESCLADO is an exhibition under the program “vento sul” under the direction of the curator Inês Valle – a series of multidisciplines art events integrated in the CERA PROJECT, with the support of Espaço Espelho D'Agua, Madragoa Gallery and DGArtes.
