Descripción de la Exposición
Galeria Oriente opens the collective exhibition "Libro Invitado", organized by Marcos Bonisson. "The title of the exhibition is an appointment that invokes and hybridizes with the different models and existing definitions, such as book book and artist book, from a contemporary production," he says. The show will last only four days and will bring together creations by 31 artists.
On the penultimate day of the exhibition, Saturday, July 8, there will be a panel discussion with Ana Luiza Fonseca, responsible for the Tijuana fair, one of the largest art fairs in Brazil, and Omar Salomão, an artist who works with the support of notebooks, and other guests. The motto will be to talk about concepts of the current interdisciplinary production of books and, specifically, about the works that are part of this collective show. Admission is free at all events.
According to Stephen Bury (1995), "artist books are books or objects in book form; on which, in the final appearance, the artist has a great control. The book is understood in itself as a work of art. These are not books with reproductions of works by artists, or just a text illustrated by an artist. In practice, this definition breaks down when the artist challenges it by pulling the book format in unexpected directions. " Büchler (1986) gives us yet another definition: "... book art can be seen as an art of action, a kind of happening or theater, considering the situation in which the work is experienced and requires the participation of the reader. The book is at the center of such a situation, but the experience of the situation is controlled by the reader. "
