Descripción de la Exposición
Museu de Arte de São Paulo Assis Chateaubriand – exposes León Ferrari: Between Dictatorships, a selection from the set of works donated to the museum by the artist in 1991. Most of the works were produced in São Paulo, where Ferrari lived in exile for fifteen years. The artist came to São Paulo in 1976, after fleeing from Buenos Aires at the height of “sucia war” [dirty war], which devastated Argentina and caused fatal consequences to Ferrari, whose son was killed during the period. The show brings together thus more than ninety works that reference to dictatorial regimes in South America and question the repressive manner in which they exercised control over the population, strictly regulating all aspects of everyday life.
The works of MASP collection include a set of photocopied prints, prints and drawings, as well as two paintings, a sculpture and an object, most of them produced during his stay in Brazil, except two early works of the 1960s.
