Descripción de la Exposición
On the 11th of November, 2009, the President of the Portuguese Republic, Aníbal Cavaco Silva, visited Torres Vedras, under the pretext of the 200th anniversary of the Lines of Torres, celebrating the defeat of the french troops at the hands of the portuguese and english army during the napoleonic invasions of Portugal.
The event "Linhas de Torres" is about the collective memory of Portugal, aimed at building and strengthening the identity of the country, a fact duly noted by the presence of the President of the Portuguese Republic. The images are focused on the mediatic aestheticization of the event, referring to validation mechanisms and to the representation of the logics of power. Through the fragmentation operated in these solemn moments, the images propose an alternative mechanism to the reification of the global sense of narrative.
