Descripción de la Exposición

The gallery Jarmuschek + Partner has today in cooperation with the Embassy of Mexico, Berlin, Kulturprojekte Berlin and the artist Gustavo Aceves presented the forthcoming exhibition project "Lapidarium - To overcome borders" on 2 May 2015 at the Brandenburg Gate on Pariser Platz. The life-size horse sculptures are directly located in opposite to the Quadriga of the Brandenburg Gate. They reflect the historical infirmity of the Quadriga and deal with pressing issues of current affairs: Migration, asylum-seeking and immigration. Where do the horses come from, where do they go, how their journey will go on, these questions remain unanswered. Effective actions are called for in view of the diverse socio-political challenges of migration, immigration and integration in today's world. I.E. Patricia Espinosa Cantellano / Mexican Embassy: "We are very proud that a famous Mexican artist has been invited by Berlin's Senate, to present his monumental sculptures on the occasion of commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Conclusion of the Second World War." Kristian Jarmuschek / Gallery Jarmuschek + Partner: "Images make our world visible. Lapidarium by Gustavo Aceves is visually stunning and shows the urgent need for addressing the current migration." Moritz van Dülmen / Kulturprojekte Berlin GmbH: "Lapidarium displays an image of war and devastation - the spring in Berlin 1945. It also shows how fragile peace is elsewhere and what kind of image of war and devastation reveals there in spring 2015. This connection between timelineness and history, on either side of the borders, sets Lapidarium in the centre of Berlin's series of events "May?45 - spring in Berlin". Gustavo Aceves / Artist: "Lapidarium tries to be a silent witness. So voiceless like the silence of immigrants halfway." The open-air exhibition "Lapidarium - To overcome borders" sets the current issues of refugee policy, seeking asylum and immigration in parts of Europe and the world in connection with the destroyed city of Berlin in the spring of 70 years ago. It warns and reminds us of the present and future. The exhibition takes place as a part of the "May '45 - Spring in Berlin" designed project, that is conceived together with Kulturprojekte Berlin, Foundation Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe, German-Russian Museum Berlin-Karlshorst, and Berliner Unterwelten e.V., the Society for exploration and documentation of subterranean architecture.
