The Studio Sandra Recio is proud to present Landscape non-Landscape, the first solo show in Switzerland of the Portuguese artist Fernanda Fragateiro.
Fernanda Fragateiro’s work explores the space in its various tangible and intangible forms through sculpture, installations and interventions in situ. In her work, the notion of space, architectural, sculptural, private, public or temporal, is subtly invested and questioned. Fragateiro intervenes in very different places like monasteries, orphanages, abandoned houses or art galleries where her artistic interventions within the existing landscape reveal hidden stories of construction and transformation while playing with proportions and materials. In her work Fragateiro establishes soft but permanent tensions between the architectural and the sculptural, her projects are characterized not only by a keen interest in re-thinking and probing the meanders of the opposition functionality/aesthetic but also by an interest for a minimalist approach in both forms and colours and in the surfaces textures.
